I concur with the recommendation of the Mitford series by Jan Karon! Heartwarming without being maudlin.

And I heartily recommend the Lady Hardcastle series by TE Kinsey! Excellent narrator, and the stories are so much fun! They are mysteries set in Gloucestershire in the early 1900’s. But the characters are what mates the books so great! The narrator brings each one to life so well!

This sounds horrific. I’m sorry local medicinal options have failed you and am hoping you get to America as well. I am enjoying your book.

As for audiobook suggestions, try N. K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth series.

I have been having periods of insomnia so have gone to my childhood for comfort: my dad used to read the Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome so although Gareth Armstrong does not sound exactly like my dad, he does a good job. Also, because I know the books almost off by heart, I can fall asleep and not worry that I have missed anything.

I am also listening to the Mitford series by Jan Karon

So I’ve been bed bound but nothing like you for the last 3 years. I tried lots of new audiobooks via scribd that I probably would not have tried otherwise just because they were free within the subscription.
I don’t know how you feel about cozy murder mysteries but I found a series set in 70’s America that I enjoyed and is very different to other series I’ve read, it’s by Julie Mulhern and it was on scribd the last time I had a subscription.
I also love Rhys Bowen again cozy murder mystery but her Royal series which is set in the 20’s in the UK and our female sleuth is a minor royal. She slots real life historical events into the story and I discovered just how little I know of our royal families history prior to the 1940’s.
I also recently listened to the Anne of Green gables series on audio and had forgotten how much peace they gave me. The series I listened to was a new one that was on Spotify and read by Mary Kate Wiles and friends, it’s very good and is much better than other audio books I have heard. More like a cast recording.
I love Milly Johnson’s audio books but she is pretty famous so you probably tried them already
My favourite author is Nora Roberts and if I had to recommend a trilogy I would probably choose the In the Garden trilogy (it does have a ghost)
If you would like a Buffy, alternate dimension, big good vs evil story then the Circle trilogy which starts with Morrigans cross.
Am always happy to talk books

Jenny I'm so heartbroken to hear of your continued struggles. Continuing to pray.

For audiobook recommendations, I loved This Tender Land and Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger. Both excellent. Both made me homesick for Minnesota. Beautiful writing. This Tender Grace is a coming of age story.

I enjoyed Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel Joyce. Quirky and compelling protagonist.

Loved loved loved Anxious People by Fredrik Backman. Cheering writing and a great story.

I listened to (after reading twice) Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman recently and loved it again. I guess I like quirky protagonists.

Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell I listened to because my book club was reading. Good narration but I wasn't as captured by the story (about the Bard) as others were.

How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie. Has language that some would object to and yes, the subject matter is killing one's family! I hate to admit how much fun this book was. And no, I don't want to kill my family.

Praying for a miracle for you.
